Beauty Bakerie

I was super excited to finally receive my first lip whips from Beauty Bakerie! One of my friends introduced me to this black owned brand, so I knew I had to support! I thought I would start out with two lip whips, since they are sold for $20 a pop. Although I loved how they are advertised as 100% smudge proof and the swatches look amazing, I wasn’t comfortable going crazy purchasing all of the colors I loved.

I decided to try out Cranberry Stiletto first. It’s a beautiful deep red! I love a good red lip, so purchasing this shade was a no brainer for me. Since these lippies are matte, I went about my normal process to apply the lip color. First, I exfoliated my lips using a lip exfoliator by e.l.f. Cosmetics. Then, I applied a lip primer by Bite Beauty. I let the lip primer set for about 30 seconds and then I applied the lip whip. I used the doe foot applicator to line my lips with the color and then I filled it in. The liquid to matte formula takes about 30 seconds to fully dry.

Applying my lip color is the last thing I do before walking out the door. After about 5 minutes, my lips felt EXTREMELY dry! I looked at my lips in the mirror and noticed how patchy the color looked. I refreshed the lip color and then it started to peel. I was so upset all day at work because my lips were extremely uncomfortable and I couldn’t change out my lip color because that was the only lipstick I had with me and due to this being 100% smudge proof, you need an oil based lip color remover and I didn’t have that with me. In order to alleviate some of the discomfort, i applied chapstick on top of the color. That helped quite a bit. But I just didn’t feel like I should have had to do that! Overall, I was just completely disappointed in this lipstick.

I’m in the process of trying to figure out some ways to prevent this from happening because the colors are so beautiful and I really want to be able to love this brand!

Fall Edit by ColourPop Review + Swatches

I know, I know! I’m obsessed with ColourPop! How can one not be obsessed though!?! The brand is super affordable and the products are high quality! They are constantly releasing new products (almost weekly) and every product they release is a must have!

A little over a month ago, ColourPop started their Fall Edit collection with tons of new lippies and shadows! So of course, I had to add some new lippies to my collection! I purchased 4 (Viper, Love Bug, Baracuda, and Mama).

3 of the 4 of the lippies are the ultra matte formula. The fourth lippie is an ultra satin. I’ll describe this formula when I talk about that shade. Anyway, the ultra matte applies liquid and dry matte. The matte formula lasts all day without fading too much. The only issue is after about 6 hours of wear, your lips begin to feel dry. When that happens, I just apply a little chapstick and the dryness goes away and the color is still vivid!

Left to right: Viper, Barracude, Love Bug, Mama

Ultra Matte Lip in Viper, $6.00

This is actually my least favorite shade out of the group. It is a much lighter  pink than I expected it to be and much lighter than the swatch on my forearm. It’s supposed to be a dusty rose, but on my skin tone, it just looks pink. LOL! One of my friends suggested that I line my lips with a darker color, maybe plum, and blend it with the lip color. So I will try that out and see if the color grows on me.

Ultra Satin Lip in Baracuda, $6.00

Barracuda is an ultra satin formula. It applies very smooth and soft on your lips. It is longwearing, however, it is not completely smudge proof. Baracuda is more of a dusty rose color in my opinion, and for me, more wearable. I actually think this one may be my favorite!

Ultra Matte Lip in Love Bug, $6.00

Love Bug is another shade that I like! It’s almost a nude on my lips which makes this a color I will wear when I do not want to really look like I am wearing lipstick. I will also use this shade to darken my lip colors. I applied it on top of Mama the other day and I loved the way it looked! I may actually be able to apply it on top of Viper to achieve the shade I really wanted Viper to be.

Love bug

Ultra Matte Lip in Mama, $6.00

I love this color! I don’t normally wear orange shades, but this one just works for me! It is still a little bright, but I can work with it! I’ll definitely wear this shade throughout the fall and on sunny winter days! This shade will actually end up being worn year round. LOL!

Have you tried any of these shades? If so, which is your favorite? Let me know in the comments!

Fall. Is. Hereeee!!!

If you know me, you know that Fall is my favorite season! I can wear all of my dark lippies and nail polishes. I can finally pull out my scarves, cardigans, and booties! All of these positives just puts a huge smile on face! Lol!

In honor of the season change, let me share with you my go to lippies for this season! It should be no surprise that every lippie is from my favorite brand, COLOURPOP!!! ColourPop has been dropping shades perfect for this season left and right for the past month and I’m HERE for them all! Let’s get into my new faves!

Ultra Satin Lip in Hutch, $6.00

I love this color! It’s a very deep purple and it is gorgeous for the fall! It is a liquid formula, but it dries very smooth and creamy. It does smudge a little if you accidentally touch your lips, so be careful of that. But, other than that, it lasts pretty much all day without having to really be touched up!

Ultra Matte Lip in Notion, $6.00

This shade may be favorite out of all of my fall lip colors. It’s a reddish violet. The color payoff in this liquid to matte formula is so rich! I just love it! The only time you have to worry about this product fading is if you eat something greasy, like pizza. I really feel like it’s the perfect fall color! Just look at my picture below! How can you not love this shade! From what I have seen on ColourPop’s social media, this color is beautiful on every skin tone! So, it’s definitely a must to add to your collection! This color is so beautiful, I’ll probably end up wearing it year round! LOL!

Matte Lippie Stix in Dukes, $5.00

This deep berry is so beautiful and so fall! When I saw it on the site, I knew I had to get it! This lipstick has a matte finish, but it’s not drying at all. The application is also very smooth, compared to their Matte X formulas.

Matte X Lippie Stix in Chateau, $5.00

I love this brick red color. What I’m not a huge fan of is the matte x finish. It applies very dry and actually feels weird on your lips, even with a lip primer (I use this one). When I wear the matte x formulas, it’s usually for a short period of time. They are still beautiful though!

Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask Review

Last summer, I had read about this Bite Beauty lip mask on another blog. I wrote it down on a list of products I wanted to try. I have finally purchased it from Sephora and am kicking myself for waiting so long! I am in LOVE! I am always excited about trying new lip moisturizers, but I couldn’t see myself paying $26 for one. But, I have dropped the $26 and do not regret it!

I purchased the lip mask in “natural.” It contains a “bio-active blend of organic agave nectar, jojoba oil, vanilla CO2 extract, and triple amount of antioxidant trans-reserveratrol found in red wine.” In other words, this product is amazing! The natural oils help make this product moisturize your lips for hours on end! The consistency is much thicker than a petroleum based product, as this product does not contain petroleum or gluten. It’s thick without being sticky, a plus in my book because I hate sticky lip products! I will definitely continue to use this before bed and under my lipsticks that have a very matte formula. I expect this product to last me quite a few months since a little goes a lonnngggg way!

It may be a little difficult to get the product out of the tube due to it’s waxy consistency. However, if this happens, just hold the tube in your hand to warm it up some. This will melt the product which will help make it come out of the tube a little easier.

Have you tried this lip mask? Let me know what you thought about it in the comments!

ColourPop Cosmetics Ultra Matte Lip Color Review + Swatches

Last month I got a chance to try out ColourPop Cosmetics lipsticks for the first time and I fell in absolute LOVE with them! The quality was fantastic for the price and the color range is so broad! There is a literally a color that will look good on anybody’s complexion and will be perfect for any occasion. So after that purchase, of course I had to buy more lip products!

This time, in addition to their lippie stix (there will be a review of these later), I had to try out the Ultra Matte Lip Colors. The ultra matte lip colors come in a liquid to matte formula. They have a doe foot wand applicator which makes applying the lip color super easy and precise. The formula is not drying like other liquid to matte formulas and the color payoff is super rich and opaque! Also, the color lasts forever without fading! I ate and drank and really didn’t have to reapply. It’s best that you exfoliate your lips prior to applying and apply a lip primer to make the application smooth and less drying on your lips.

Now, on to the good stuff! I purchased these in the colors LAX and Guess. LAX is a deep blackened red…almost like a rust color. It is so beautiful on! It looks great on all complexions! I have been looking for a deep red like this and am so glad I finally found a winner! I have worn this color so many times within the last couple of weeks. It is my new go to!

Guess is a blackened purple. Super vampy and super sexy! I love a dark purple lip and this one is definitely it! I used to wear Cyber by MAC as my go to dark lip, but over time, it just seemed to not be as dark as I wanted it to be. Enter Guess by ColourPop and I am sold! It is my new go to color for a night out! I cannot wait to wear it on my next night out on the town.

What do you think about these colors? I think I will give them away for my next giveaway! Thoughts?

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream Review + Swatches

I have been on the prowl for a liquid to matte lipstick for a while. I have tried a few which I have reviewed here and here. I have been looking for a formula that dries matte, but that is not extremely drying on my lips or sticky when it dries. I believe I found what I have been looking for in this product! I purchased the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in the color Coppenhagen from Target the other day. I really love the color. It is a berry wine shade. The doe foot wand applicator made applying the lip cream super easy. It dries matte after 15 seconds or so, which means you have to work quickly to clean up any mistakes. The formula was matte without being drying. I did not feel like I needed to keep reapplying or anything. I did prime with Aquaphor to add some moisture to my lips before applying the lip cream, but I do that with ALL of my lipsticks. The color barely faded after eating and drinking and it lasted for hours, without ever feeling dry on my lips. I definitely look forward to trying some of the other shades that this product comes in!

Je Beau International Cosmetics Review + Swatches

*Although the products used in this review were provided by Je Beau International, the thoughts and opinions set forth in this article are solely mine and are 100% honest*

Recently, the founder of Je Beau International reached out to me and requested that I try out some of her company’s products. I happily obliged! I love trying new products, especially from brands that are not as mainstream, and introducing them to my followers!

Je Beau International in Beverly Hills, California, has a line of beauty products representing Hollywood Glamour with more than 100 celebrities using our products, as well as the everyday consumer. Je Beau International introduces only the finest ingredients in all of our luxurious products to bring out your true beauty.

-Je Beau International

In the look below, I tried out several products from Je Beau. I tried out their luxurious lipstick, mascara, and eyeliner. They also sent me a lip liner. I did not use it in this look because I didn’t want it to take away from the lipstick, but I did swatch it below. Scroll down below to read my review of each product.

Luxurious Lipstick in Legendary, $18.00

I really loved this lipstick. It is a red shade with a little shimmer to it. It is not a true red, at least not on my complexion. But, it is a very pretty red. It is like a coppery red. It’s a nice change up to my everyday red lipsticks. The lipstick applied very smooth and lasted for hours. It was very moisturizing, with a very satiny feel. The lip color was also very pigmented. I definitely look forward to trying some other lipstick shades. It comes in 13 other shades.

Cat Eye Liquid Eyeliner Pen, $18.00

If you keep up with my blog, you know how much I love eyeliners! This eyeliner has a black felt tip. It applies super smooth and easily. The thickness of the pen helped make the application easy. The line came out very smooth and dried a matte black. It created a perfect winged look. I will be adding this to my rotation for nighttime eyeliners.

Movie Eyes Mascara, $20.00

I do not wear mascara too often, but I did notice a difference in my lashes after applying this mascara. This mascara added a lot of volume and lengthened my lashes. It is a smudgeproof and waterproof formula, so I had to really scrub with my makeup remover wipes to remove it. It is also a sensitive eye formula, so it does not irritate your eyes the way other mascaras may.

Luxury Lip Liner in Vermouth, $16.00

I do not use colored lip liners very often, unless I am creating an ombre look. I mainly stick to clear lip liners. But, if you are a fan of colored lip liners, I think that this one is nice. It applied smoothly and the color payoff was great. It would look nice paired with the lipstick in this review. It is a pencil lip liner, so you will need a sharpener if you purchase. This lip liner comes in 3 other colors.

Overall, I am a fan of this brand. I do find some of their products to be a bit pricey. However, the quality is really good, which makes paying the additional money worth it. I would definitely recommend the lipstick and eyeliner, as they were my favorites. Head over to their website and check out all of the other amazing beauty products they offer! Also, like their Facebook page; follow them on Instagram; and follow them on Twitter.

Lip Monthly Review + Swatches | January 2016

This is my second Lip Monthly bag and I was terribly disappointed. I did not like any of the products I received this month! All of the lip products were nude colors and I HATE nude lipsticks. They are never a nude for my skin tone so they always make my lips look really ashy, which you will be entertained to see in the pictures below. I look absolutely crazy! LOL! They also included a hair mask in this bag, which is random. I wish they would only include lip products since this subscription is called LIP Monthly. I think I will give this subscription one or two more chances to turn it around, otherwise, I will be canceling! Anyway, since all of the products were full size, the retail value of this bag is approximately $64. Great deal since the bag itself is only $12.95…it just sucks when I won’t be using any of the products.

Well, let’s see what products I received that I will not be using…lol! Check out the bag below, at least it’s super cute!

OFRA Cosmetics Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Laguna Beach, $20.00

This color was hideous on me! It was a pinkish nude and it just looked awful on! It would be really beautiful on someone with a paler complexion, just not on me! The formula is liquid to matte and for the short time I had it on, it did not seem extremely drying like other formulas. It also was very opaque and did not require a lot of product to get the look in the picture. It did, however, have a slight odor to it. It smelled kind of like cake. If that wouldn’t bother you, you could probably try this product out and like it.

Starlooks Luxe Longwear Lip Pencil in Stellar

I could not find anywhere to purchase this product. But, the product card says that it retails for $14.00. The color was a mauveish shade. This is the only product that I may can use. I have to find a lipstick in my collection that it will complement first, before I can make a solid decision about it.

City Color Be Matte Lipstick in Latte, $4.99
Latte is a light tannish color. Out of all of the lip colors in the bag, this one looked the best on me, but I still will not wear it because it just made my lips look ashy. The formula reminded me of LA Girl’s Matte Lipsticks which I reviewed here. I wasn’t a big fan of that formula. It’s not very moisturizing and does not stay on long. But, it’s only $4.99, so you can try out all of the colors and really not break the bank.

Oscar Blandi Moisture Recovery Treatment Balm
I also could not find anywhere to purchase this product. However, the product card says it retails for $25. As I stated in my Birchbox review from this month, I am not a big fan of trying new hair products. This product says that it is for hair in need of intense moisture. You are supposed to apply it to clean, damp hair, leave it on for 5 minutes and remove it. Since it is a product that you rinse out of your hair, I may can give this one a try the next time I wash my hair. Hopefully, it does not weigh my hair down or dry it out!

What did you think of the products in my bag this month? Have you tried any of these products? Let me know in the comments!

Ciate London & Formula X Nail Polish and Kat Von D Lipstick Review + Swatches | Mini Sephora Haul

Recently, I was going through my nail polishes and realized that I didn’t have many new polishes. That means I had to re-up! Straight to Sephora’s website I went! I decided to purchase three mini polishes from Ciate London. I purchased a couple of polishes from this brand last summer. I don’t remember the quality of them, but the colors are so pretty that I couldn’t resist adding more to my collection! They are $8 each on Sephora’s website and when you purchase 3, you get $6 off! That’s a pretty good deal! In the picture below, from left to right, the three colors I purchased are Antique Brooch, Pool Party, and Comic Strip. Antique Brooch is described as a deep rose gold glitter with a hit of pink. Pool Party is a deep azure blue. Comic Strip is a multi tone glitter. I will probably use this color on my accent nail when I use Pool Party. Click here to purchase the polishes.

I also purchased the Kat Von D vs Formula X set. It included 3 mini lipsticks and 3 mini nail polishes. Each lipstick is paired with a matching nail polish, which I really liked. But, I really purchased this set because I have never tried any lipsticks from Kat Von D, but I have heard rave reviews about her products so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to try them. The nail polishes are really just an added bonus! The first color duo is called Lovecraft. The lipstick and nail polish are described as being a mauve pink nude. I hated this color! It looked horrible on my skin tone! I will probably give this one away to one of my friends with a lighter complexion. The second duo is called Bauhau5. This is my favorite color out of the entire set. The lipstick and nail polish are a deep raspberry. The lipstick is a perfect match to my skin tone! The final duo is called Homegirl. It is a black berry color. This color was the reason I really purchased the set. The color looked really good on, however, it applied really splotchy and I did not like that. But, that happens a lot with really dark lip colors.

The lipstick formulas are very matte and will definitely need a lip scrub and moisturizer applied before putting on the lipstick. Click here to read about my favorite lip exfoliators. Also, the nail polishes are all very pretty colors. But, from my experience with Formula X polishes, the quality is not all that great. They usually only last a 2-3 days before the polish starts to chip. However, since they have such a wide variety of gorgeous colors, I do not mind wearing their polish. I just wear it when I know I will have time to change it within a couple of days. If you love this set and want to purchase it, click here. It currently sells for $29.50.

What are your thoughts on this set? Do you think I should give this set away in my next giveaway? Let me know in the comments!

What Are My Top Three Lip Exfoliators?

If you wear lipstick often then you know how imperative it is to keep your lips exfoliated. I you don’t, you may end up with unevenly applied lipstick. Or if you wear lipstick often, you may have to keep them exfoliated because your lips may peel more than if you don’t wear lipstick often. So, to get an even application and to help lock in moisture, you will need to exfoliate. In this post, I am going to give you my top three lip exfoliators from Mary Kay, e.l.f Cosmetics, and MBA Cosmetics.

Satin Lips Lip Mask by Mary Kay, $10

The first lip exfoliator I ever used was the Satin Lips Exfoliator by Mary Kay. I actually still use it from time to time. This one comes in a tube that you squeeze onto your lips, rub your lips together, let it sit for a couple of minutes, then wipe it off with a tissue. I really enjoy this exfoliator and I think it works the best out of the three because it has the longest lasting results. For me, that is about 4-5 days after daily lipstick wear. You can also purchase this product in a set with the lip balm for $18. I am not a fan of the lip balm because, in my opinion, it is not moisturizing at all. It disappears from my lips within minutes. Click here to purchase the set.

Sweet Kisses Lip Scrub in Pink Sugar Rush, $3.50

This is the second exfoliator I started using. It is a sugar scrub and it’s so sweet that I can barely keep it on my lips long enough to remove the dry skin. This lip scrub comes in a small jar. You have to apply the product with your fingertip. I rub it across my lips, let it sit for a minute and then wipe it off with my tissue. I do not use this one very often because I do not think it works that well. But, for $3.50, I can’t really complain and the taste is pretty awesome! It also comes in several other flavors!

e.l.f. Cosmetics Lip Exfoliator, $3

So, what I LOVE about this exfoliator is that it comes in a traditional lipstick tube and you apply it just like you would a regular lipstick. To apply, you have to dampen your lips, massage the product in in a circular motion, and then remove it with a damp cotton ball/pad or tissue. This product works pretty well. The results are not as long lasting as Satin Lips, but it’s good for when you are on the run.

What are your favorite lip exfoliators? Let me know in the comments!
