ColourPop Lippie Stix and Pencil Review + Swatches

I finally got around to purchasing some products from ColourPop and I am so glad I did. I purchased three lippie stix and one lippie pencil. Two of the lippie stix are a matte formula, while the other is a creme formula.

I purchased the colors Pitch, Jonesing, and Leather. Pitch is a very rich, chocolate brown. I love this lipstick for the fall and winter months. For my complexion, it also works as almost a nude lip color, which I love because I can wear it on days where I would like for my makeup to be very minimal. Leather is a deep violet. I kind of thought this shade of purple would be a little darker, but it was a little more vibrant than I thought it would be. No worries though because I love purple lipsticks and this is just another shade to add to my collection. The last color I purchased is Jonesing. Jonesing is a deep cranberry color. I think this one may be my favorite out of all of the colors because it is in the red family and you can never go wrong with a shade of red!

Let me tell you what I LOVE about the lippie stix! 1. They are super cheap. 2. They come in every color imaginable! 3. They are very moisturizing.

The only thing I do not like about these lippies is that, in my opinion, they do not have a long lasting wear. The color starts to fade after 2-3 hours. But, for the price, I can reapply every hour if I have to!

Check out the lip swatches of the colors below!

NARS Velvet Matte and Satin Lip Pencil Reviews + Swatches

Every year during your birthday month, Sephora offers a free gift with a purchase during that month. Last year, Sephora offered a set of two NARS Velvet Matte and Satin Lip Pencils. I have fallen in love with lip pencils/crayons this year, so I was super excited to get this as a gift. I have been meaning to write this review since I first started my blog back in November, but I kept pushing this one to the back burner. Now, I have time to write about these lip pencils.

The first color is called Rikugien. It can be purchased here for $26. It is a sheer, rose pink color. When I first tried it out back in September when I got them, I was not a big fan of the color. I don’t usually like tinted lip glosses, so I just tucked it away. However, after trying it on again a few months later, I kind of started to like it. I figured it would be good to wear on a day where I’m just running out to the grocery store and don’t want to put on lipstick, but still want something with a little color. The formula for this lip pencil is very satiny. It wasn’t sticky and it went on smooth. That’s always a plus in my book!

The second color is Cruella. It can be purchased here for $26. If you know anything about me, you KNOW I love a good red lip and this color does not disappoint. I LOVE this shade of red. It is a scarlet red. However, what I did not like about this particular pencil is that it was extremely matte, which means it was very drying. Some mattes can be moisturizing, this one was not at all. In addition, the color faded quickly. I felt I had to keep reapplying it and I hate having to do that with my lipstick. For the quality of this matte lip pencil, I could never see myself paying $26. I literally only wear this lip pencil when I am going out for a really quick run.

Scroll down below to see pictures of the actual lip pencils and swatches of the colors.

MBA Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lip Color Review

As you can probably tell from reading my blog, I am a huge fan of My Beauty Addiction Cosmetics! They’re products are super affordable and handmade! They sell products ranging from lipsticks to blushes to eyeshadows to highlighters to makeup tools! They pretty much have any makeup product you need!

A few months ago, I purchased two Matte Liquid lip colors. One in Vino and the other in Fame. Vino is a deep, blood red. Fame is a rich, true red. I was excited to try these products as there has been a lot of hype surrounding liquid to matte lip formulas. These each come in a lip gloss tube with a doe foot wand applicator. The applicator makes application pretty easy. However, if you want more precision, you can use a lip brush. In the swatches below, I just used the applicator that came with the products. I thought the colors were absolutely beautiful! They were true representations of what was pictured on the website. The only thing I did not like about the products is how sticky they are once they dry. You cannot rub your lips together or even pat them together once they dry without having them stick to one another. Even when I moisturize my lips prior to applying the lip colors, they are extremely sticky. I do not know about you, but I hate sticky lip products! I will definitely not be wearing these lip colors for an extended period of time.

Lip Monthly, What Lippies Did I Receive This Month? + Swatches | December 2015

Lip Monthly is a monthly subscription service where you receive 4-5 full sized deluxe lip products for only $12.95 a month! Click here to use my referral link to sign up. You can use code LIPLOVER to receive your first bag for $5.

The December bag of Lip Monthly is my vety first bag from them! So, let’s start with the packaging. It arrived in a gold foil bubble mailer which had me super excited from the beginning! The bag itself was season appropriate. It had a picture of a snow covered city, perfect for winter!

In my bag, I had  four full size products with a retail value of $68. This is pretty good when the site advertises that the bags will have a retail value of $35-$55 each month! Without further ado, let’s see what products I received!

Be a Bombshell Lip Crayon in Hot Damn, $16  I am always down for a good red lip which is why I probably have at least 10 different red lipsticks. So, I was super excited to receive a red lipstick in this bag. However, I was a little disappointed when I applied it. It was kind of sheer and required several layers to get the opacity that I like with my lipsticks. It was more of a lip gloss than a lipstick. On the plus side, it seemed very moisturizing and since it’s a lip crayon instead of your normal lipstick, application was super easy and precise!

MeMeMe Long Wear Satin Lip Cream in Morello Silk, $15  I LOVEEEEEE a dark, vampy lip! When I opened this lipstick up and saw how dark this lip color was, I got super excited! Once applied, it is a deep wine color. It kind of reminded me of the shade Scarlet by Bite Beauty, only this one is a tad lighter. I will definitely get some use out of this color during this season!

Hikari Cosmetics Blush in Tango, $15 I was really disappointed to see a blush in my bag this month. I was expecting to only receive lip products since that is what the website advertises. To make matters worse, this blush is a pinkish shade and due to my medium/deep skin tone, it does not look flattering on me. This blush is definitely for people with lighter skin tones.

Evelyn Iona Lip/Cheek Tint in Ash, $22 This product was disappointing. From reading the product card, it states that it is a lip/cheek tint. Instead, it actually seems more like a cream blush. Which means this is my second blush in this bag and from reading my review above, you can tell that I am not happy about it. This blush is also in a shade of pink which means I will not be wearing this one either.

This bag was 50/50 for me. I really liked two of the products and disliked the other two. Since it was half and half, I will give the subscription another chance to hopefully send me some better products and maybe next time they will be all lip products. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

Have you tried any of these products? What were your thoughts on them? Let me know in the comments!

What Are My Top 5 Lippies for the Fall/Winter?

It’s that time of the year again! The time to pull out all of your dark lippies for the cooler months…a.k.a. My favorite time of the year! When I tell you I live for a dark lipstick, Honey I LIVE for a dark lipstick. I feel super sexy in a darker lipstick. Now, granted my top 5 go to lip colors for this season are not all dark and vampy, they are still perfect for the season because they are browns, deep reds, and deep berries. Let’s get into my favorite fall/winter lippies now!

Note: This list is in no way, shape, or form, all inclusive. Just a quick top 5 list.

Wet n Wild Beauty Silk Finish Lipstick in Mink Brown, $0.99

I loveeee Wet n Wild lipsticks (you’ll be able to tell this after reading this post). For less than $2, the quality is amazing. They are super moisturizing and long lasting! They have sooo many different colors to choose from and you can buy them all for less than you would pay for a designer lipstick brand. So, that means, definitely worth buying!

Anyway, Mink Brown is such a beautiful shade of brown. It’s kind of a caramel shade. I get so many compliments when I wear this lipstick! Definitely a color that should be in your collection!

Wet n Wild Beauty MegaLast Lip Colors in Cherry Bomb, $1.99
Now Cherry Bomb is one of my all time favorite lip colors! I love the deep brick red color. It compliments my skin tone so well. I actually wear this one year round because the color is just so amazing! Fun fact: This color is a dupe of MAC Sin. So, save your coins and buy this one instead!

MAC Lipstick in Cyber, $17.00

Cyber is a color I cannot live without! I love wearing this lipstick when I am going out for dinner or for a night out on the town. It is a very intense blackish purple. Definitely a color that makes me feel very sexy! No matter what, I will always have this color in my collection!

MAC Lipstick in Dark Side, $17.00
Dark Side was one of the very first lipsticks I ever bought from MAC. If you love a deep burgundy lipstick, then I would definitely recommend this color!

Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick in Dark Wine, $0.99

Dark Wine is another one of my faves from Wet n Wild. The color is just that, a dark wine. I love the smooth texture of this lipstick and the color payoff…another winner for the fall!

My Lip Regime

So, I am absolutely crazy about my lips. My lips are my favorite feature on my face. With that said, that means I must take great care of my lips. I am so crazy about my lips that I have about four products that I put on my lips BEFORE applying lipstick. Below I have outlined the products and my process. Enjoy! 🙂

First, I outline the area outside of my natural lip line using the e.l.f. Lip Lock Pencil. I use this to keep my lipstick from feathering or budging outside of my lip line. It sells for $3 on e.l.f.’s website.

Second, I line and fill in my lips using the No Bleeding Lips Secret Lip Liner. It is an invisible liner which I prefer to use as my daily lip liner because I don’t have to worry about finding a lip liner that complements the lip color I am wearing that day. It sells for $15 on Sephora’s website.

Next, I prime my lips using Aquaphor (sold at any drugstore or grocery store and sells for approximately $4) and MAC Prep + Prime Lip, $16.50 on MAC’s website. I probably don’t have to use both, but I started and I just can’t stop. lol! I use both of these to moisturize my lips before applying my lipstick, no matter what kind of lipstick I am using. I do this because my lips dry out really easily, which is even more of a problem when wearing lipstick.

Lastly, I apply my lip color of the day and GO! Easy peasy!

What is your routine for applying your lipsticks and glosses? What products do you use? Let me know in the comments!

Bite Beauty Lippies | Hate em or Love em?

Up until a few weeks ago, I had never heard of Bite Beauty. I was shopping around in Sephora and I was just looking for something small to add to my basket. I came across the lipstick duos and thought they were super cute, so I had to try them out! I bought the duo in Scarlet/Mulberry and am I glad I did! Bite Beauty is a new favorite of mine! Let’s get into a review of the lippies that I have bought from this brand!

High Pigment Pencil in Tannin, $24

I went to Sephora the other day with the intent to purchase the Bite Beauty Lip Crayon in Aubergine. But, as I was swatching the colors on my hands, I swiped Tannin and said to myself, “OMG! This is the one! You have to get this one!” And so, I did! It is described as a “deep poppy red” and I think that is a spot on description! It is definitely a very deep red and that is what made me fall in love with the color! The pigment is extremely rich and just gorgeous on! In addition, application is so smooth and the formula is extremely moisturizing…which is always a plus when it comes to lipsticks, in my opinion. Also, since it’s starting to cool down, this is the perfect deep red for winter. So, if you’ve been looking for a deeper red, this is the one to go with!

Creme Lipstick Duo in Scarlet/Mulberry, $14
I actually did a review of this lippie a few weeks ago when I purchased it, so click here to read all about it. I guess since I am talking about it for a second time within a few weeks, that tells you just how amazing I think Bite Beauty is!

Have you tried any Bite Beauty lipsticks? What did you think about them? Let me know in the comments!

Red Lips That Are To DIE For!

Everyone needs a good red lip. Red lips are classic and can be worn year round. The good thing about red lippies is that no two reds are the exact same. Which means, you can NEVER have too many reds. With that being said, get into a review of some of my favorite red lippies!

Wet n Wild Beauty MegaLast Lip Color in Stoplight Red, $1.99

This was one of the first lip colors I purchased from Wet n Wild and I have been in love ever since. I purchased it after doing some research online and finding an article saying that this particular lip color was a dupe of MAC Ruby Woo…and it is. However, it is not matte like Ruby Woo. It has a more satin finish, which I LOVE! This shade of red is more of a true red and that is what I love about it. It has awesome staying power, it barely fades after drinking or a light meal. If I had to choose, this would probably be my second favorite red.

My Beauty Addiction Luxury Matte Lipstick in Salsa, $9.50

Ooo la la! I so love this red! I saw it on a model on MBA’s IG page and had to have it!  To see my full review of this lippie, click here.

MAC Lipstick in MAC Red, $17.00
Soooo this is my GO TO RED! I wear this lipstick at least three times a week! It is super moisturizing and the perfect red for summer or winter. It has a very smooth, satiny application. The pigment in this lip color is very rich. The only downfall to this lippie is that it fades completely after eating. Bummer….but, it doesn’t stop this from being my favorite!

Julep Full Coverage Lip Crayon in Cardinal Red, $20.00

I received this lip crayon in my first Julep subscription box. I tried it on and fell in love. It has a very smooth application and the color for this one is also very rich. I don’t wear this color very often because I forgot I had it, but, I will be wearing it much more often now that I have rediscovered it!

NYX Extra Creamy Round Lipstick in Snow White, $4.00

I bought this lipstick from Target last weekend and am I glad I did! For this lipstick to only be $4, the quality is amazing! I applied this lipstick around 7 AM, ate lunch around 12:30 or 1, and the lipstick had barely faded. It looked almost as good as it did when I applied it that morning (head over to my Instagram (@jewellslipsandtips) to see a picture). This is a slightly deeper red, which makes it perfect for the cooler months. I will definitely wear this lippie out this winter!

What are your go to red lippies? Let me know in the comments so that I can try out some new reds!

Winter is Almost Here, Time to Moisturize Your Lips!

Winter is around the corner, which means much cooler days and dryer skin. Blah! But, in order to still feel sexy even in the cold weather, you must keep your lips soft and kissable. I experienced two Milwaukee winters and my lips tend to be on the drier side (unfortunately *sad face*), so I know a thing or two about good lip moisturizers. I have compiled my top four favorite lip moisturizers that you should add to your collection. Enjoy! 🙂

  1. Eucerin Aquaphor, 1.75 oz – $5.00
    • A step above vaseline. I use this to moisturize my lips before applying lipstick.
  2. Vaseline, 7.5 oz -$3.67
    • Well we all know how I feel about vaseline. Refer to this post.
  3. Rosebud Salve, 0.8 oz – $6.00
    • This is a new product that I have come across and I love the consistency of this on my lips. Super moisturizing. Definitely recommend! Read my full review about this product here.
  4. Blistex, 0.15 oz x 3 pack, $4.19
    • This is a no brainer. Blistex is the perfect chapstick. I recommend it over any brand because it actually keeps your lips moisturized and acts as a barrier against harsh winds.

Do you use any of these products or will you try them out for the winter? Let me know!

Nail Polish, Setting Powder, Eyeliner, Lip Balm Anyone?

I have a problem. I am addicted to Sephora. I placed two separate orders on their website two days in a row. Smh! But, I stocked up on some pretty awesome products! See what they are below! 🙂

*Click on each photo to go to the product page*
Smith’s Rosebud Salve, $6

This lip balm is AMAZE BALLSSSS!!!! It is super moisturizing. It is a long lasting moisturizer and can be used to moisturize your entire body. I just prefer using it on my lips. I’ll definitely be adding this to my collection of lip moisturizers for the winter!

Make Up Forever HD Microfinish Powder, $30 (0.3 oz), $19 (0.14 oz); Sephora Setting Powder Brush, $11
I used my rewards to get the Make Up Forever setting powder. I am not sure I am a fan of it. I have never used a setting powder before, but it made my skin really dry and left a ghostly glow to my skin. No matter how little I used, I still had an ashy look to my skin, which was only noticeable when I took a picture with the flash on. But God forbid I wear this in public and someone takes a picture of me with the flash on. How horrible would that be!?! LOL! I may give this setting powder another try…but it will be a while.

The setting powder brush is really awesome. The bristles are very soft and applied the powder very well. The shape and size of the brush allow you to apply bronzers and blushes for a natural looking result. I definitely recommend this brush if you wear bronzers and blushes often…even if you don’t, it’s a good brush to have in your collection.

Marc Jacobs Marc’er Precision Pen Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner  in Blacquer, $30

OMG! Am I glad I chose this as my free gift with my purchase or what!?! This eyeliner is perfect! It is a super glossy back and application is flawless. The fine pen tip allowed for the perfect line and made winging the eyeliner super easy. I have been a die hard fan for MAC ProLongwear Eyeliner…but for just a few dollars more, I may have to upgrade my life to this eyeliner! It was just that amazing!

Nails, Inc. Nail Polish in London Lane, Sold out
Ever since I started using the Nails, Inc. 45 Second Top Coat, I have been in love with Nails, Inc. polishes. Unfortunately this polish is sold out now and I am unsure whether or not it will be restocked…but, I love the blue flakes suspended in a clear polish. I applied it on an accent nail (pictured) on top of a gray nail polish and I received so many compliments (don’t mind the bottle of SquareHue polish, it’s just the only picture I had showing the Nails, Inc. polish. lol!) Hopefully it will be restocked and if not, I will work on finding a dupe of this polish that will give you a similar effect.

Formula X Nail Polish in Sage Green, Sold out

I am a fan of Sephora’s Formula X collection for the variety of colors. I am not a fan of the quality. The polish chips after two days or so…which is a bummer. So, I only buy this brand when it is on sale. Lol! Okay, on to the polish at hand. Unfortunately, I haven’t had a chance to paint my nails with this particular polish. I’m hoping I can get around to painting my nails tonight if I have some free time (be on the lookout on my Instagram for a picture). Anywho, I’m a little on the fence about this color. I was thinking that it would be a little darker based on the photos on the website, but looking at the bottle it seems pretty light. Maybe it will apply darker when I paint my nails. Let’s keep our fingers crossed about that! Unfortunately, this color is sold out, but if you click on the picture, you can see all of the other amazing colors Sephora has to offer!

Update: I got around to painting my nails. The color came out the way I expected it to, which I was pleased with. But, like I stated, it chipped within two days…even though that could possibly be attributed to me washing my hair. Either way, I’ll be repainting my nails this weekend.

Have you tried any of these products or do you plan to? I’d love to know!
