Fall Eyes: Studio 1400 | Review + Swatches

The jewel tones have officially arrived and they are stunning! Studio 1400 is the perfect fall eye set! And because it’s the perfect fall eye set, I am giving one set away. Click here for entry instructions!

The set includes four of the most beautiful eyeshadows I have ever laid eyes on!

The four shades are:

8 Track: A dirty antique gold in a Pearlized finish

Static: A deepened burgundy in a Pearlized finish

Donna: A rich emerald green in a Pearlized finish

White Rabbit: A bright true copper in a Pearlized finish

Each shade is sooooo beautiful!!! I can’t decide which color is my favorite! If I had to choose, I think it would be White Rabbit because it’s so unique and the color just pops when applied!

Aren’t they stunning!?! 😍😍😍

What I love about the super shock shadows is how smooth they are. I like to apply them with my finger instead of a brush to get all of the pigment and they literally glide on! After it is applied, I use a fluffy brush to diffuse the color across my lid if I want to soften to shadow some.

Each shadow is also extremely pigmented. A little product goes a long way! In the photo above, I only had to swipe the product across my forearm one time to get all of that magic to show up!

The set can be purchased here for $18 or individually here for $5 each!

ipsy Glam Bag Review + Swatches | January 2016

After seeing the December Glam Bag, I was super excited to resubscribe to ipsy! I was subscribed several months and received 3 or 4 bags, but I didn’t like the products I was receiving, so I cancelled the subscription.

After seeing the last two glam bags, I thought to myself that I should give it another shot. And for only $10 a month, what could it possibly hurt? I cannot say that I am glad I did at this point. This first bag was a little underwhelming to be honest. That’s probably only because I was hoping to get at least ONE lipstick and I didn’t get one. However, the bag itself was really cute! I loved the “All Eyes on Me” theme and the bag fit perfectly within that theme! The bag made me think Andy Warhol and pop art!

I will give it to ipsy. They introduced me to five brands that I have never heard of before this month, which I’m sure is a goal of theirs. All of the products were full size except for the cleansing cloths, which would make this bag worth $61.94. Awesome deal when I only paid $10 for the bag. Click here if you would like to subscribe to your own ipsy bag!

Well, let’s see what I received in my bag!

Skyn Iceland Glacial Cleansing Cloths | 30 ct, $15.00

First up were the cleansing cloths. The cloths did the job they were supposed to do…I was just kind of disappointed to receive these in my bag because there’s nothing exciting about cleansing cloths. LOL! And for the price, I can just stick to my Neutrogena makeup remover wipes that I have been using for years now. However, I will still use these until I run out. lol!

OFRA Cosmetics Universal Eyebrow Pencil | Full size, $13.00

Left: with eyebrow pencil; Right: without eyebrow pencil

This was my favorite product in the bag! I wasn’t really feeling it when I saw it in my bag because I have been using Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow Gel, which I absolutely love. Click here for my review of it. But, this pencil really filled my eyebrows in beautifully! There was a distinct difference in my eyebrows, which you can see in the picture. Since this is a universal brow pencil, the color is buildable. The more you apply, the darker it gets. It truly works wonders. I would definitely recommend this pencil!

theBALM Cosmetics Mr. Write (Now) Eyeliner Pencil in Jack B. Bronze | Full size, $17.00

I only wear black eyeliner. But, this eyeliner will give me a chance to step out of my comfort zone. It is a bronze color, so I do not really know if it will show up well on my skin tone, because it barely showed up when I swatched it on my hand. As soon as I can figure out where I can wear this to, I will try it out.

Jelly Pong Pong Fairy Lashes Curl Mascara | Full size, $21.95

I do not wear mascara often, but I do like to try out different brands just to see how they work. I feel like this mascara did not make a difference in the look of my lashes at all. They looked the exact same before and after, which means it is a pointless product. Lol! I also did not like that this product was not waterproof. My eyes watered a little and it smeared under my eyes…not a good look. I definitely will not be using this product.

J. Cat Beauty Blinkie Shimmer Eyeshadow in Tangerine Light (BES02) | Full size, $4.99

I really do not wear eyeshadow often. However, I really liked this color. It was very pretty and shimmery. I also liked how smooth the formula was. I swatched it on my hand and once I removed it, a little of the shimmer was left over. I will have to wear it to see if it stays put…I’ll keep you all posted on this!

Overall, I do have a couple of products that I can and will use in the future, including the wipes. I will stay subscribed and see how my next couple of bags are. If I am still somewhat disappointed, I will have to cancel this subscription again.

What did you think of my ipsy bag this month? Let me know in the comments!

e.l.f. Cosmetics Little Black Book in Warm Review

A couple of weeks ago, e.l.f. sent me this Little Black Book as a gift to apologize for a shipping mishap that occurred with an order I placed. I thought that was a very nice gesture and really awesome customer service! They even included a hand written note! Unfortunately, I didn’t get a picture of that.

Anyway, I was excited to receive this eyeshadow palette. I had actually purchased an e.l.f. eyeshadow palette from Target a couple of months ago and dropped it and a few of the eyeshadows popped out. So, this was a perfect replacement and right on time! I tend to lean more towards neutral shades when I wear eyeshadow which makes this a perfect palette! I love all of the shimmery shadows and the different hues will make creating a smokey eye very easy! The shadows apply smoothly and stay on for hours! The colors are even more vibrant when applied wet! I also thought that it was pretty cool that this set included an eyeshadow brush and smudge brush just in case you don’t already own one or if you need a replacement. If you are looking for an inexpensive eyeshadow palette with good quality shadows, I definitely recommend this one! An added bonus is that it is pocket size which makes it really good for traveling! Click here to purchase your own for $10!

What do you think of this eyeshadow palette? Will you purchase one?

e.l.f. Cosmetics Baked Eyeshadows and Bronzers Review + Swatches

On Veteran’s Day, I took advantage of the HUGE sale that e.l.f. was having on their website. Everything was 50% off! Well…almost everything! It has taken me a few weeks to get around to using all of the products and writing a review.  I will not review everything in this haul at once. I will review products after I use them several times.

Anyway, in this review, I want to focus on the baked bronzer and eyeshadow palettes. I purchased the Baked Eyeshadow Palette in California and Seattle. California is a palette with neutral shades. Seattle is a palette with smokier shades. I purchased the Baked Bronzer in Bora Bora for $3. I was super excited about receiving the palettes and bronzer. I thought the colors in each palette were so beautiful and for $10 each, I really couldn’t beat that! However, once I got them and opened them and tried them out, I was sadly disappointed. There was barely any pigment in the shadows. I read somewhere that the pigment was more intense with a wet brush, but that really didn’t make much of a difference. I love e.l.f. products and I am really hoping that this is just an issue with the baked formula and not their eyeshadows in general because I purchased a pressed eyeshadow palette from Target a couple of weeks ago that I have not had a chance to try out yet. I might have to turn my back on e.l.f. in that one doesn’t work out for me!

Baked Eyeshadow Palette in California Swatches (left: with flash; right: without flash)

Swatches of Seattle Palette (left: without flash; right: with flash)

Baked Bronzer in Bora Bora Swatch (left: with flash; right: without flash)

As you can see from the photos above, there isn’t much pigment in the eyeshadows or the bronzers. 😦

Have you tried the Baked Eyeshadows or Bronzers from e.l.f.? Did you have better luck with your products? Let me know in the comments!

What’s in My Birchbox? | December 2015

This is my second Birchbox and I was super excited when I got the notification saying that my package had been delivered. I couldn’t wait to get home and open the package. Once I opened up, I was very pleased with the box. It is simple and classy, and put me in a Christmas spirit someone. The silver design made me think snow and sparkles! lol! I already knew what products would be in my box because I checked out the sneak peek a few days prior to receiving the box. However, I was still very excited to open the box and see the actual sizes of the products and what they looked like in person. The total retail value of my box is $166. Pretty awesome huh? Especially when the monthly subscription is only $10 a month! You really can’t beat that! Well let’s get into what I received this month!

Benefit Cosmetics, They’re Real! Tinted Primer | Full size, $24

This product hasn’t even been released yet, so I was super excited to receive it in my box. I did notice a difference when using this primer with my Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. It lengthened and separated my lashes beautifully! I felt that the primer helped widen my eyes and make them stand out more. Oh and if you’re worried about the brown tint to the primer, don’t be! It blends completely with black mascara! As I stated in the beginning of this review, this product has not been released yet and is on pre-sale and will be released December 26, 2015.

Catherine Malandrino, Romance de Provence | Full size, $65-110

I am not a big fan or perfumes and I never wear them, to be quite honest. However, I did try it out just to see what it smelled like. It has a soft, musky scent. It is a little overpowering for me because if I were to wear perfume, I would wear a light, floral scent.

Coastal Scents styleEYES Eyeshadow Palette – formalEYES | Full size, $12

For this product, I thought a swatch would be necessary!  There were two eyeshadows in this sample. One was a nude and the other a rosy pink. The nude color is not flattering on my skin tone. However, I can blend the shimmery pink in with another eyeshadow to create something very pretty. The formula for the shadows are very smooth. I really look forward to wearing these one day soon! The full size product comes in two other palettes and each palette has 8 eyeshadows in it. That’s a pretty good deal for $12!

Vasanti BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator | Full size, $34

I now have two of these samples. I received one as part of a mystery sample pack for a Birchbox order that I placed on Black Friday and now this one in my box. I guess this product is meant to be in my life because this is a wonderful face scrub. The exfoliator crystals are extremely fine and really help to remove the dead skin from your face and leaves skins feeling so soft! This product is also great for sensitive skin…which I have. It did not dry my skin out or cause any breakouts! Definitely a win in my book! I will be using both samples and then purchasing the full size when I run out! That’s how great this face scrub is!

Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream | Full size, $16

Ugh! I hated this product! It was not moisturizing at all! It has a very weird, indescribable texture and consistency. The scent is also a bit off putting. This could just be a personal thing, because there are rave reviews on Birchbox’s website. So, maybe I’m just the weird one! Lol!

Click here if you would like to subscribe to your own Birchbox for only $10 a month!

What’s in My Birchbox? | November 2015

I was subscribed to Ipsy and Glossybox and I was consistently unsatisfied with the products I received, so I thought I would switch over to Birchbox. This is my first box and I’m so excited I made the decision to subscribe! The products are great…especially the MAKE Face Gloss! It’s my favorite product from this box…you’ll find out why in my review below! Anyway, this box is worth $89.50, so for $10, it’s TOTALLY worth it! Scroll down to read my thoughts about all of the products I received! 🙂

Temple Spa La La Lagoon Aromatic Bath & Shower Gel – Full Size, $18

My skin is really sensitive, so I do not use shower gels on my body. I am more of a Dove soap for sensitive skin kind of girl. It does have a semi strong smell to it. According to the packaging, it is aromatic, so I am assuming that is why it is a little strong.  But, if you do not like strong scents, then I wouldn’t recommend it. However, based on the reviews, some people enjoyed the smell and found it to be relaxing. It’s always a preference thing…so if you can find your way to a Birchbox store, I would recommend you taking a whiff before buying.

MAKE Face Gloss – Full Size, $25

OMG! OMG! Oh My God!!! This face gloss is AMAZING!!!! I have been a vaseline girl my entire life (read about my obsession here). But, since trying this out, I can’t say whether or not I will be using vaseline on my face anymore. This gloss keeps my face moisturized for the entire day and a little goes a LOOOONGGGG way. My skin is not shiny or oily looking, it just looks perfectly moisturized. It also leaves my skin feeling super soft. I love it! It is the perfect moisturizer for my dry skin. Based off of the reviews though, I am not sure if I would recommend this product for people with oily skin because it seems to make oily skin extra oily.

LOC One & Done Shadow Stick in Smoke Screen – Full Size, $10

This eyeshadow is awesome! The pigment is super rich and the formula is long lasting. It stayed on for hours and hours without fading. I had to use an oil based makeup remover to get it off of my eyes. I tried wiping it off with a tissue just to see if there would be any transfer, and there wasn’t. I definitely recommend this eyeshadow. You’ll love it!

Living proof.* Perfect hair Day (PhD) dry shampoo – Full Size, $22

I have never used a dry shampoo. However, I have been considering trying one since I only wash my hair every two weeks. It would be nice to have a little refresher at the start of week 2. Enter Living Proof PhD. The smell is so fresh and it leaves my scalp and hair feeling very fresh and adds some moisture. I am not sure if I sprayed too much, because the next day, my hair felt heavier and kind of greasy…which it should have been removing. Lol! But, with that being said, I am not completely turned off to the idea of dry shampoo or this brand. I will try this one out again and not spray as much and I will probably try out another brand or two before committing to buy this in the full size bottle.

BioRepublic Skincare Green Tea Detox Purifying Fiber Sheet Mask – Set of 3 masks, $14.50

I have never used a face mask before, but I loved this one. It smelled soooo good and it left my skin feeling moisturized and clean…although, a tad sticky once I removed the mask. Butttt….the next day I woke up with a few small bumps on my face, so I am not sure if it irritated my skin or not. I will be trying some of the other face masks offered by BioRepublic if I can find one for sensitive skin. Head over to my Instagram page to see a picture of me trying out this mask! You’ll get a kick out of it! Lol!

Will you try any of tese products or subscribe to Birchbox? You should…
