NYX Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator | Review + Swatches

During the spring, I was on the prowl for the perfect illuminators, bronzers, and highlighters! I found some goodies which I have reviewed here, here, and here over the past few months. My favorite one so far would have to be the Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop by Becca Cosmetics. I reviewed it a couple of weeks ago. It’s my favorite because I just feel so sexy when I wear it! My face just GLOWS and SHIMMERS! It’s an amazing product.

Anyway, this post isn’t about that highlighter. This one is about the NYX Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator in Pure Gold. It sells for $7.49 for 0.6 oz at Ulta. I purchased this during the same trip to Ulta when I purchased the Lorac bronzer (another fave) a few months ago.

When I first tried this product, I didn’t like it because it didn’t have any noticeable shimmer and, at the time, I was looking for a product with shimmer. I used it a couple of times back in March and forgot about it after the Lorac bronzer gave me the look I was going for. Last week, I came across this product in one of my makeup bags and decided I would give it another try. That decision turned out to be a good one!

Although this product has very little shimmer (only noticeable when I swatch it), it still glows! Just look at the picture below! As you can see, the name of the color is on point! It is pure gold on my cheekbones and that pure gold gives just the right amount of pop that I like when I’m trying to be chill but also do a little something extra with my makeup.

How beautiful is this glow!?!

To apply this product, I applied a very small amount to my fingertip and then just blended it in. The product is sheer, which makes it buildable. However, you really do not need a lot of product to achieve a beautiful glow. I’ll use this illuminator when I’m not trying to really have my cheekbones stand out, but I still want a subtle glow.

Is that shimmer even worth noting? I don’t think so!

Have you tried this product before? What were your thoughts?

How About a Little Champagne Pop? | Review + Swatches

A few months ago, I reviewed the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Topaz. I really wanted the exclusive shade Champagne Pop created by Jaclyn Hill, but it was sold out at the time. I finally got my hands on the pressed powder a couple of months ago. I had a chance to really try it out a few weeks ago for my birthday celebrations in Las Vegas and I am SOOOOO in love!!!! I was afraid this shade would be too light on my skintone, but it’s not! I actually prefer this shade over Topaz because the sogt white gold with peachy undertones literally GLOWSSSS!!!

What I love about this product, outside of it making my face POP, is that it doesn’t take a lot of product to acheive the look you are going for and the application is extremely smooth. A light sweep of the product on an angled blush/highlihgting brush ( I use this one from Julep) with a light blending on your cheekbones, bridge of nose, and brow bone, gives you the perfect glow!

Although this product is a bit pricey, ringing in at $38, it is completely worth it! Anytime I am going out for a night on the town, I am definitely completing my look with this amazing skin perfector. Check out my pictures below so you can see just how beautiful this product truly is!

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Topaz Review + Swatches!

After searching high and low for the perfect highlighter, I think I may have found THE ONE! The Becca highlighters are raved about on all of the blogs and they come highly recommended, so I figured it was time for me to shell out the $38 so that I could see what all of the fuss is about. I am so glad I did! Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector is IT! The skin perfectors come in three formulas: liquid, poured, and pressed. I purchased the pressed formula because I wanted the shimmer to be as noticeable as possible, and from the reviews, pressed was the way to go! Topaz is the perfect shade for my complexion! It gives me the perfect natural glow! I love how buttery smooth this powder is. You really do not need much product to make sure cheekbones pop! Also, from what I have read, the more product you use, the more noticeable your pores will be, so keep it light. The best way to achieve this is to use a light feathery brush…like a fan brush, stipple brush, or an angled bronzer brush. I use an angled bronzer brush to apply it to the tops of my cheekbones.

Lorac TANtalizer Baked Bronzer Review + Swatches

I have been on the prowl for a nice bronzer to give my cheekbones a nice little shimmer. I came across this Lorac Baked Bronzer when I was in Ulta the other day. It was one of those items I came across towards the front of the store by the registers…in the “let me squeeze some extra coins out of you” section. Lol! It is a mini size and it was only $8, so I thought, why not?

This product has a very nice gold shimmer to it. I love the way it looks in my cheekbones! It gives me a beautiful glow! The product applies pretty sheer, but it is buildable. It has a smooth application. The only thing that I do not like about this bronzer is that it does not last long. By the time I get home from work, the product has faded from my cheekbones. I can’t say whether or not I will buy this in a full size when I run out…but who knows, maybe I will really fall in love with this bronzer! I am still in the market for a good product that will give my cheekbones a very nice shimmer, or even a glow! I want it to match my skintone, so if you have any suggestions, let me know!!!

Have you tried this bronzer before? What were your thoughts? Let me know in the comments!
