Julep Maven Unboxing | October 2016

I’m backkkk!!! Did you all miss me? I certainly missed all of my followers! ❤ I took a mini hiatus to live a little and fully enjoy my spring and summer. No worries, I am officially back with new posts anddddd….a GIVEAWAY!!! To enter the giveaway, head over to my Instagram account and find the post for the Studio 1400 Super Shock Eyeshadow Set by ColourPop. In the meantime, lets discuss Julep!

If you kept up with my blog before my break, you know that Julep is one of my favorite subscriptions. I love it because you can choose exactly what products you want in your box each month. I have a 3 month recurring subscription where I am charged $63 every 3 months. It’s been well worth the money and I do not see myself cancelling this subscription anytime soon.

Alright, so let’s see what all I chose for my box this month! I chose two nail polishes and an eyeliner. I also decided to add on an eyeshadow stick to get rid of some of the Jules (reward points) I have accumulated. Julep also added a surprise nail polish for free in every box this month! 🙂

*If you would like to subscribe to Julep, click here to use my referral link.*

Nail Polish in Gladys (It Girl), $14.00

This nail polish is everything! It’s a midnight blue with a shimmery finish. Absolutely stunning! It is perfect for the colder months ahead of us!

Nail Polish in Ebony (It Girl), $14.00

This nail polish is the reason I love Julep. Julep has the best holographic nail polishes ever! Every month I try to purchase one with the holographic effect because it’s just so cool! It’s a graphite base with multi colored glitter. It literally looks like a galaxy on your nails and that’s what makes me loooovvveeee it!

Left to right: Ebony, Gladys, Gladys with Desiree as a top coat

Fluid Eye Glider, $20.00

So, I love a good liquid eyeliner that’ll give me a nice wing or cat eye. I have been in the process of trying to find another good liquid eyeliner because they’re my favorite to use when I am going out. I have been obsessed with using this one from Je Beau Cosmetics. I reviewed it here a few months ago.

But anyway, I decided to add this one to my box this month and I am glad I did! The felt tip makes it easy to apply thin or thick lines. This eyeliner is jet black and water resistant, which is a definite plus. Nobody wants their eyeliner running down their face.

Eyeshadow 101 Stick in Champagne Shimmer, $18.00

I chose to add this product to my box because: 1. it is an eyeshadow stick and I have never used one before; and 2. I thought it would be perfect to apply eyeshadow to my water line and inner corners.

The shadow is creme-to-powder formula and it is waterproof. Since it is a creme formula at first, it applies very smoothly. Champagne Shimmer is described as a “sun-kissed champagne shimmer.” It’s weird that they used the name of the color in the description. Lol! But, I guess that was the best description to fit the color, as you can see from the swatch below. One end of the stick is the shadow and the other end is a smudger. The product boasts having stay-all-day power and being crease proof.

Also, if champagne isn’t your color, it comes in 11 other shades.

Nail Polish in Desiree (It Girl), $14.00

This was a wonderful surprise in my box this month! Desiree is a clear top coat with a high gloss holographic shimmer! This polish instantly transforms any regular nail polish to a holographic finish! So now I can turn my favorite nail polishes into something completely different and I’m definitely excited about doing that!

Julep Maven Unboxing | March 2016

It’s Julep Time!!! I am really excited about my box this month! I picked out some really awesome products and even got a grape blow pop! I won’t bore you with a lot of background about the box, but click here to subscribe to your own box for $24.99 a month, or $59.98 for a 3 month subscription. The total value for my box this month was $80, including the add-on I purchased with my Jules. You earn Jules for every box you receive and can spend them on products in the online shop.

Now, for the fun part! Let’s see what products I received!

What Your Skin Needs: Restorative Facial Milk, 1 oz. $38.00

I have been debating for the last couple of months whether or not I wanted to get this product in one of my boxes. I am always concerned about facial products because my skin is so sensitive. However, I decided to go ahead and get it because it says it is suitable for sensitive skin. This moisturizer has five oils in it that absorb into your skin instantly to “treat, hydrate, and replenish” your skin. The five oils are jojoba (heals skin and locks in hydration), argan (repairs and replenishes skin with essential fatty acids), coconut (calms skin with natural anti-inflammatory properties), olive (keeps skin soft and supple), and squalane (absorbs quickly and helps the entire old blend go deeper).

I really love this skin moisturizer. It leaves my skin very soft and smooth! I put two drops into the palm of my hand using the eyedropper applicator, rub my palms together, then apply to my face in an outward and upward motion. I use this motion because you always want to apply moisturizers to your face this way to lift your skin, otherwise, you are pulling it down which could lead to sagging skin. It leaves my skin feeling moisturized for hours on end and it really is great for sensitive skin. I have been using it for six days now and my skin seems to look even more beautiful than it normally does! I think I have found a new skin moisturizer to add to my collection!

Nail Color in Kay, $14.00

This nail polish is very beautiful. It is a warm taupe shade with a golden shimmer. It is opaque in two coats. I can’t wait wait to try it out!

Nail Color in Becca, $14.00
Also a very beautiful color. The website describes it as a “viridian tide shimmer.” Viridian tide is a blue green shade. It makes me think of the beautiful water in the Bahamas or another island! Perfect for the beach! This color is opaque in two shades.

Nail Color in Zoey, $14.00

Zoey is described as a “sea spray creme.” It is a baby blue shade with a smoky tint to it. I don’t know how this color will look on my hands, but I’m interested to try it out very soon. This color is also opaque in two shades.

What do you think of my Julep box this month? Any products you would be interested to try? Let me know!

Nails of the Week | Finley by Julep

This is another nail polish that I am in love with! I received it in my February Julep subscription box. This color is called Finley. It is a smokey navy creme color. It is so beautiful! The polish applied very smoothly and it lasted for 4 or 5 days without chipping. All of Julep’s polishes are of good quality which is why I am still subscribed to them. I am trying to get all of my dark colors out of the way because spring is quickly approaching and it will be time for my brighter colors and pastels, which I am excited about pulling out!

I would love to see your nails of the week! Tag me on IG and use my hashtag #jewellslipsandtips so I can see them!

Julep Maven Box Review | February 2016

Julep is here and I am not as excited about writing this post as I normally am, mainly because half of the products in my box were more so items that I needed versus items that I wanted. So, since I get to pay an automatic flat rate for this box, why not get those necessities in this box instead of purchasing them separately. However, the other half of the box I was excited about because they are nail polishes and I really liked the colors! Anyway, let’s see what’s in my box!

Golden Angle Nail Wraps

I selected these nail wraps for my box this month because I have never used them before. I thought they were different and would look really cool on top of the perfect base polish…still trying to figure out what that polish will be. Suggestions? Anyway, they have different nail wraps available on the site, but they can only be purchased in packages with nail polishes. In order to get them individually, you must have a Julep subscription.

Cuticle Pusher, $14.00

This is another tool that I selected this month because I wanted a new cuticle pusher. There’s nothing really to say about a cuticle pusher other than that they are a necessity to keep your nail beds healthy.

Oxygen Smoothing Base Coat, $18.00

I decided to try this base coat out this time around. I have been using the Oxygen Bonding Base Coat, but I wanted something different. This base coat is supposed to smooth out your nail tips if you so that your nail polish application can be very smooth.

Nail Color in Finley, $14.00

I have a few more weeks to enjoy my really dark nail polishes, so I thought this navy blue would be perfect! I’m really excited about this color and can’t wait to try it out!

Nail Color in Alaina, $14.00

I have recently fallen in love with neutral tone nail polishes ever since I received one in my SquareHue subscription several months ago. This color is described as a “driftwood taupe créme.” I also look forward to trying this color out. I think I have the perfect event in mind for when I’ll wear this polish! 🙂

What do you think about the products I received? Which ones would you like to try? Let me know in the comments!

Julep Maven Time! What’s in My Box? | January 2016

What time is it!?! Julep Time!!! I am really excited about my box this month! I picked out some really awesome products and even got a sweet treat this month! I won’t bore you with a lot of background about the box, but click here to subscribe to your own box for $24.99 a month, or $59.98 for a 3 month subscription. The total value for my box this month was $75, including the add-on I purchased with my Jules. You earn Jules for every box you receive and can spend them on products in the online shop.

Now, for the fun part! Let’s see what products I received!

It’s Whipped Matte Lip Mousse in XOXO, $20.00

Last month, I chose this lip mousse in Smooch and I loved the quality of it so much that I had to get another color in my box this month! The color I chose this time was XOXO. It is a shade of fuchsia. However, it is too pink for me and, in my opinion, is not very flattering on my complexion. It would look much better on fairer skin tones.

When Pencil Met Gel in Blackest Black, $16.00

Soooooo I think I may have found a new eyeliner! I have been a faithful user of MAC’s ProLongwear Eyeliner for a while now. It goes on smooth and is a nice black and I thought I was in love with it…until this one entered my life! I thought my MAC eyeliner went on smooth…this one just GLIDES on! It feels like butter being applied! The black is super pigmented, unlike the MAC eyeliner and it literally stayed on all day! It didn’t fade at all! I really think I will have to switch over to this eyeliner and I’ll save $5 every time it is time to replace eyeliner, which is an added bonus! Who doesn’t like to save money on a product that is even better than their go to???? Definite win!

Nail Color in Joss, $14.00

I absolutely love this nail color! It is described as a “ripe fig duochrome” on the website.I love nail polishes that give off the iridescent effect and this one has that effect. It’s such a pretty purple with a greenish duochrome. I wish I could’ve picked up the duochrome effect in the picture. No matter how I turned the camera or the lighting I used, I could not pick it up! Anyway, I think I may wear this polish within the next couple of weeks!

Break the Ice Trio, $24.99

Top to bottom: Primp, Charm, Mingle

I have been eyeing this trio since before the holidays. I thought I would possibly use it as a gift for a giveaway on my Instagram page, but I decided to just purchase it for myself. I think the colors are really fitting for the cooler months that we are currently in. The three colors included are Primp (marsala creme), Charm (festive fuchsia creme), and Mingle (mulled wine creme). My favorite color in the box is Charm. It looks so good on my complexion! I will be wearing this color very often in the coming months! Mingle is my second favorite. I always love shades of red because you can usually never go wrong with a red lip. As you can tell from the pictures, Primp is definitely not my color. It is wayyyyy too light for my skin tone. I will NEVER wear this one! LOL! Also, the tubes these mini lipsticks come in are so upscale! They are packaged in silver plated lipstick tubes! I definitely wasn’t expecting that which makes me excited to pull these lipsticks out to refresh my lip color! LOL!

Nails of the Week | Keiko by Julep

This past week I went with Julep Bombshell in Keiko. It is described as a “charred olive shimmer.”  Honestly, I never saw any green in this polish. It really just looked like a very dark gray. Nonetheless, I still loved the color! I love dark polishes this time of the year. However, I would have loved to have seen some green. It would have been a pleasant surprise. Normally I get really good wear out of my Julep polishes, but for some reason, this polish kind of chipped around the tips of my nails after 2 days of wear. That kind of bummed me out…but it won’t keep me from wearing Julep brand polishes in the future. If you would like to purchase this polish, click here. It sells for $14.

Can you see the olive color in the picture?

Julep Maven Unboxing | December 2015 (Updated)

My Julep box has arrived and I am super excited!! The arrival of this box marks the beginning of my favorite time of the month, SUBSCRIPTION BOX time!! 🙂 This is the first of my reviews for the month, so without further ado, let’s get into this review!

I always love the unboxing part, even though I get to pick out which products I would like, it is still very exciting! I also love the inspirational quote that Julep puts in every box! The quotes always put a smile on my face! Anywho, in my box this month, I received the Orbital Eyeshadow in Borealis, It’s Whipped Matter Lip Mousse in Smooch, and the Vanish Cuticle Softener & Remover. The value of this box is $56. So, for $20 a month, this is well worth it.

Oh, if you head over to the site by 11:59 PM, December 14th, you can get 40% off sitewide during the Friends & Family Sale using the code WELOVEYOU.

Products I received this month 🙂

It’s Whipped Matte Lip Mousse in Smooch, $20.00

I love this lip mousse! It is super smooth and moisturizing for a liquid to matte mousse, unlike other liquid to matte formulas. The pigment was very rich when applied. It is described as a brick red on the website. However, I think it was a little lighter than a brick red…which is still okay with me. The wand made application easy and clean. The website lists the following as benefits of this lip mousse:

  • “Light-diffusing blend of pigments minimize the appearance of lip lines
  • Antioxidant-rich formula keeps lips feeling nourished and comfortable
  • Julep-exclusive ultra-hydrating Power Cell Complex™ delivers essential nutrients to soothe, repair, and improve barrier function so lips retain moisture”

Unfortunately, I have not worn it for an extended time to see how the wear is and how long it takes to fade. But, when I do, I will update this post.

Dial Up Your Glam Orbital Eyeshadow, $18.00I was hoping this eyeshadow would live up to my expectations based off of the pictures I saw online and OMG did it! This eyeshadow is absolutely stunning in person! The borealis effect is beautiful! I really couldn’t believe how beautiful this eyeshadow is when applied! The formula is very smooth and the application was effortless. The pigment is extremely rich and you really do not need to apply much to get a rich pigment on your eyes. According to the website these are the benefits of this eyeshadow:

• “Uses iridescent pearls and vibrant metallic pigments to create an effortless, multidimensional eye look
• Blends the color payoff of a cream shadow and the layering power of a powder”
Based off of these benefits, I would have to agree that this eyeshadow definitely lives up to both!

Vanish Cuticle Softener & Remover, $18.00 This is a really cool product. I love the eyedropper top that helps make applying a couple of drops to your cuticles very easy. It made my cuticles soft and removed excess skin. It also removed leftover nail polish around my cuticle bed and some stains that were left on my nail. Definitely an added bonus to this product!

Just in case you were curious, here are the features and benefits of this product according to the website. You will see that my review matches pretty well with what the product is said to offer.

Features & Benefits:

  • Instantly loosens overgrown cuticles
  • Removes stubborn color stains from nails
  • Reduces regrowth with regular use
  • Works wonders on toes, too

Julep Bombshell in Margot Review

I feel like I have been doing a lot of lipstick and beauty product reviews lately and have been neglecting my beloved nail polishes (outside of my nails of the week posts)…which is a little odd since nail polish is a focus of my blog. No worries, I will find a healthy balance to ensure that I am providing my honest reviews of all things lippies, nails, and beauty in the future.

With that being said, I am going to share with you all my thoughts on the nail polish I chose to get me in the Thanksgiving spirit a couple of weeks ago! I decided to go with Julep Bombshell in Margot. I received it in my Julep subscription box either in October or November. However, it sells for $14.00. Click here to be taken to the product page. The polish is a very beautiful shimmery gold. On the website it is described as an old Hollywood gold shimmer. Something about the gold made me think fall and turkeys! Lol! Anyway, the polish is of great quality. It’s a “5-free, vegan-friendly formula that also includes strengthening Hexanal and antioxidant green coffee extract.” I wore it for 5 days and there was no chipping or fading of the polish. I was a little concerned that removal would be difficult because sometimes nail polishes with this kind of shimmer may really be glitter, which can make it hard to remove it. However, it was like removing a regular nail polish. I didn’t have to do any extra scrubbing or anything. I used a non-acetone remover on cotton balls and the polish came right off. Next time I’m in a golden mood, I will definitely pull this color out! Check out a picture of my nails below!

What’s your favorite Julep nail polish? Will you be trying a Julep nail polish after reading my review? Let me know in the comments!
