Nails of the Week | Alaina by Julep

I love this nail polish! I received Alaina in my February Julep box! It is a beautiful taupe shade. It is described as “driftwood taupe creme.” It puts a different spin on a nude polish! Even though it’s warming up, I’m not quite ready to pull out my bright polishes, so this is the perfect transition color for me.

Valentine’s Day is Upon Us. What Nail Polish Will You Wear?

Valentine’s Day is almost here! Not that I need an excuse to wear red, but now is the time where I really feel like I should wear as much red as I can get away with! It is all about love this weekend right? Even though this holiday is all about reds and pinks, I think for a different look, you can incorporate purple polish for the day as well! So, let’s see what red, pink, and purple nail polishes I would recommend to celebrate your holiday with!

Damsel by Julie G Nail Color, $3.99  I actually completely forgot that I had this color in my collection until I started for polishes for this post. But, once I came across it, I remembered how amazing the color is! It is such a pretty pink. It’s not too light and not too dark. Also, the quality is superb. From what I could remember, the polish lasted for at least 5 days without really chipping. Awesome quality for such a cheap price!

Star Spangled by Orly, $5.50  This has always been one of my favorite red polishes. I love that it has a deep red base with red glitter suspended in it. It wears well and is perfect if you are going out for a party this weekend!

Julep by Julep, $14.00

This color was the Julep’s Color of the Year last year. It is an orchid shade and absolutely stunning once applied. I think this shade of purple would be perfect if you would like to go outside of then norm of red and pink nail polishes.

Big Apple Red by O.P.I., $6.25
Now this color is the epitome of Valentine’s Day. This polish is a true red. It is a creme formula and applies very smoothly.

What color polish will you wear for Valentine’s Day? Let me know in the comments.

SquareHue Time! | February 2016

Well, it’s that time of the month again! SquareHue TIME! I am always super excited to receive this box because I LOOOOVEEEE nail polish! This month’s theme is Bike Amsterdam. Based off of that theme, I assumed that the colors would be related to nature in a sense, such as greens, blues, maybe a chrome to represent the metal on a bike. I was somewhat right in my guesses for the polishes this month.

The three colors I received this month are Waterland District, Vondelpark, and The Nieuwmarkt. I was disappointed to receive Waterland District in this box because it is another shade of baby blue and is very similar to a color I received in my box last month. I was hoping that they would change it up this year and not repeat similar colors. Anyway, the difference between the color this month and last month is that this color is more of a sky blue and it is a high gloss creme, whereas, the color last month was a baby blue and frosted. I really loved the color Vonderlpark because it is purple and I always love purple nail polishes! It is a deep, eggplant shade! I will definitely be wearing this color before the end of the month! The last color is called The Nieuwmarkt. It is a red polish with pinkish shimmer in it. Valentine’s Day is this weekend and this color may just be the perfect shade for the weekend! We shall see!

Nails of the Week | Spice It Up by Sonia Kashuk

I have been seeing this brand, Sonia Kashuk, in Target for a while now. They have a variety of beauty products ranging from makeup brushes, to lipstick, to foundation, to nail polish, and everything in between. I had been interested to try it, but since I had never heard of the brand, I was a little skeptical about purchasing anything. However, last week I was shopping around and noticed that some of their products were on sale. What better time is it to buy some new products than when they are on sale??

I decided to purchase this polish in the color”Spice it Up.” The best way to describe this color is a cinnamon or rust brown color. I really loved the color! It is perfect for the cooler months. I am trying to get all of my darker colors out of the way because next month it’ll be time for me to start moving towards brighter color…Yes, I am that person. I wear nail colors based on the season. LOL!

Anyway, the quality was okay. It chipped after three of four days, which was disappointing. However, I am not sure if it was because I did not use my normal base coat, which is the Julep Oxygen Bonding Base Coat or if it was just because of the quality of the polish. I feel like the Julep base coat really makes the polish adhere to your nails because it works like a double sided sticky tape. Also, I only needed to apply two coats to get the opacity I desired. The polish wasn’t too thin and it wasn’t too thick which made application very easy.

I will try this polish one more time with my normal base coat, if it lasts longer, I will definitely purchase more. This color is not available online, however you can click here to see what colors are offered online or head to your local Target to see what they have available!

Have you heard of this brand before? If so, what do you think about their products? Let me know in the comments!

Just like a red lip, you can never go wrong with red nails. Since I wanted to constantly feel myself this week, I went wanted to go with a true red. Nails of the Week | Friday Night Out With Vogue by SquareHue

For my trip to Vegas, I wanted a very chic and sexy nail polish. So I decided that I wanted to wear a shade of red. As I sat and thought about what colors I had in my collection, I remembered the perfect color from the Decades Collection:1990. The color is Friday Night Out With Vogue. It is a beautiful burgundy red with a slight shimmer to it. I absolutely love this color. There’s just something about it and I can’t put my finger on it…but it’s definitely awesome sauce!

And the Adventure Begins! | SquareHue January 2016

The adventure has begun! The New Year brought the start of the adventures collection from SquareHue and boy did it start off with a BANG! The theme for this month’s box is Hike Banff. Banff is located in Canada and it is a mountain trail. According to the information provided about the trail from SquareHue, it is 4.8 km return, 260 m elevation gain, takes 1-2 hours to hike with moderate difficulty.

Every color in this box is stunning! The first color is Lake Louise. It is a beautiful frosted sky blue creme polish. I am one of those people who wears polish based off of the season, so since this color is so light, I will be saving it for the spring and summer. The second color in this box is called Lodgepole Pine. It is a deep forest green creme nail polish. It is very glossy and I can’t wait to try this color out! The final color in this box is Johnston Canyon. It is a light peachy nude color. I have recently gotten into nude polishes when I am looking for something different for my nails. I will be trying this one out soon too! All of these colors fit perfectly into the hiking theme. Lake Louise makes you think of a beautiful blue sky. Lodgepole Pine makes you think of the trees that you will be surrounded by while hiking and Johnston Canyon makes you think of the ground beneath you as you are hiking up the mountain.

Nails of the Week

Last week, before Christmas, I had a hard time deciding on what color polish to wear on my nails in the days leading up to Christmas.  I settled on this deeper, frosty plum color by OPI. The color is OPI Scores a Goal. I like the shade. I am not in love with it. But, it got the job done for the few days I wore it. OPI polishes are pretty good. You can wear them for a few days with very minimal chipping. After 5 days of wear, there was fading at the tip of most of my nails and one nail had chipped at the tip. Not too bad in my opinion. Anyway, get into the picture of my nails below.

What is your favorite OPI nail polish? Let me know in the comments!

Festive Christmas Nails

Merry Christmas Eve!!!! I have been waiting for this week to come so that I could really get in the Christmas spirit with my nail polish! When I think Christmas, I think about red, green, and gold. So, I decided to paint my nails red and gold for the weekend! For my red polish, I used Orly in Star Spangled. It is a red polish with red micro glitter sparkles! Super shimmery which I love! On my two accent nails, I used Julep in Margot as my base gold polish. It is a micro gold glitter polish. I provided a full review of this polish here. I then topped my Julep polish with Nails, Inc. in Snowglobe. This is a gold glitter polish suspended in clear polish. I did a full review of this polish as well. Click here to read more about it. The colors are so beautiful together and now my nails look so festive and I am fully ready to celebrate the holidays now! Check out my nails below!
