Nails of the Week | Alaina by Julep

I love this nail polish! I received Alaina in my February Julep box! It is a beautiful taupe shade. It is described as “driftwood taupe creme.” It puts a different spin on a nude polish! Even though it’s warming up, I’m not quite ready to pull out my bright polishes, so this is the perfect transition color for me.

Nails of the Week | Mambo by SquareHue

This polish was in the Decades Collection: 1940 box. I reviewed the box here. I really like this burnt orange color that Mambo gives me. In the bottle, it looked much darker than it actually does on my hands. It is the perfect transition color from winter to spring or summer to fall.  Of course, as with every SquareHue polish, it lasted for days without ever chipping. I’m a loyal SquareHueist (you like what I did there? lol) and I think you should be too! Click here to subscribe!

SquareHue Decades Collection: 1940s Review

A few weeks ago, SquareHue had a BOGO free sale on their website. Every time they have a sale, I have to indulge. I am trying to get all of their past boxes that came out before I subscribed. I purchased the 1940s box from the Decades Collection as well as the SYDNEY box from the Passport Collection. I will review the second one at a later date.

The 1940s box excited me because I absolutely loved the royal blue metallic polish included in this box. The other colors were winners too! But, the royal blue polish had me SOLD! The colors included in this box are Sorcerer’s Hat 1940 (stunning royal blue shimmer), War Hero 1945 (warm mustard yellow creme gloss), and Mambo (burnt orange (brick) creme gloss). After swatching each color, I am actually excited to try them all! Of course, I will either write a quick blog post for the colors when I wear them or post them to my Instagram page, so make sure you are following me! 🙂

Nails of the Week | Finley by Julep

This is another nail polish that I am in love with! I received it in my February Julep subscription box. This color is called Finley. It is a smokey navy creme color. It is so beautiful! The polish applied very smoothly and it lasted for 4 or 5 days without chipping. All of Julep’s polishes are of good quality which is why I am still subscribed to them. I am trying to get all of my dark colors out of the way because spring is quickly approaching and it will be time for my brighter colors and pastels, which I am excited about pulling out!

Nails of the Week | That’s My Jam by Color Club

I received this nail polish in my Birchbox this month. I was really excited to try it because when I swatched the color it was a very nice berry shade. A mixture of red and pink depending on the light. However, when I actually applied it on my nails, it was more red than anything. I couldn’t pick up the pink no matter what lighting I was in. The color applied with a jelly like formula, which I kind of liked. It was different for me because most of my polishes are either a creme formula or a glitter formula. This formula does last. It lasted for the 5 days that I wore it without chipping. I also used a gold nail wrap from Julep on my accent nail. The nail wrap didn’t last that long before it started to peel. But, I still thought it was cute! Click here if you would like to purchase this polish for $8.50!

Nails of the Week | I’m Kind of a Big Deal by Trust Fund Beauty

I am not a big fan of anything pink to be honest. But, I received this nail polish in my February ipsy glam bag and actually kind of liked it. It wasn’t a bright pink or a pastel pink which are my least favorite shades of pink. Ick! It was a dusty rose color, which had me pretty much sold and looking forward to trying the color out. I had never heard of Trust Fund Beauty, and because of that, I was even more excited about trying this polish out.

The name of this color is “I’m Kind of a Big Deal.” The quality of this polish is really good, which is always a great thing. It lasted 5 days without chipping at all! It applied a little thick, but was still easy to apply. The color was fully opaque after two coats. I could’ve honestly gotten away with just applying one coat. I’m just a two coat kind of girl.

After applying the polish, I wasn’t sure if I really liked it on my nails. It seemed a little brighter than what I thought it would be. But, after a day of having it, I was ABSOLUTELY in love! Every time I look down at my nails, I get a feeling of pure satisfaction internally. I am actually sad about having to change my nail color.

This polish sells for $15. Click here to purchase. I’ll be trying out some new colors in the future…and maybe some of their lipsticks too!

Nails of the Week | Joss by Julep

OMG!!! I am so in love with this color! I didn’t think the duochrome effect would really work, but it actually does and it is AMAZING!! When the light catches this polish, it turns from a fig purple to real green. It is so gorgeous! Too bad I couldn’t pick up the effect in the photos. 😦 The only thing I didn’t like about this polish is that it started fading around the edge of my nails after 3 days or so…but for this color, it is totally worth it!

I am definitely going to try more polishes with the duochrome effect in my future Julep boxes! Click here to purchase this polish for $14.00 or $11.20 if you are a Maven.

Nails of the Week | Spice It Up by Sonia Kashuk

I have been seeing this brand, Sonia Kashuk, in Target for a while now. They have a variety of beauty products ranging from makeup brushes, to lipstick, to foundation, to nail polish, and everything in between. I had been interested to try it, but since I had never heard of the brand, I was a little skeptical about purchasing anything. However, last week I was shopping around and noticed that some of their products were on sale. What better time is it to buy some new products than when they are on sale??

I decided to purchase this polish in the color”Spice it Up.” The best way to describe this color is a cinnamon or rust brown color. I really loved the color! It is perfect for the cooler months. I am trying to get all of my darker colors out of the way because next month it’ll be time for me to start moving towards brighter color…Yes, I am that person. I wear nail colors based on the season. LOL!

Anyway, the quality was okay. It chipped after three of four days, which was disappointing. However, I am not sure if it was because I did not use my normal base coat, which is the Julep Oxygen Bonding Base Coat or if it was just because of the quality of the polish. I feel like the Julep base coat really makes the polish adhere to your nails because it works like a double sided sticky tape. Also, I only needed to apply two coats to get the opacity I desired. The polish wasn’t too thin and it wasn’t too thick which made application very easy.

I will try this polish one more time with my normal base coat, if it lasts longer, I will definitely purchase more. This color is not available online, however you can click here to see what colors are offered online or head to your local Target to see what they have available!

Have you heard of this brand before? If so, what do you think about their products? Let me know in the comments!

Nails of the Week | Ciaté London Pool Party and Comic Strip

After receiving my order from Sephora which included these nail polishes, I couldn’t wait to try them out! Pool Party is the perfect royal blue creme nail polish! It is a true blue and I LOVE it! What I was picturing this color to look like when I purchased it is exactly what it was when I received it! The only thing I did not like about this polish was the brush. The brush was round which made application kind of uneven. Also, the polish is not very opaque. It took three coats to get the opacity pictured below.

I used Comic Strip on my accent nails. It is a matte glitter. I had to apply about three layers to get the amount of glitter pictured because as I would brush the polish on, it would move the glitter around. But, even with the few mishaps I faced with these nail polishes, I absolutely LOVED the outcome and I think these two colors together are quite awesome!

What are your thoughts on this polish? Have you ever tried Ciate London polishes? Let me know in the comments.
