SquareHue The Adventure Collection: Ice Skate Rockefeller Center | December 2016

Christmas is almost hereeeeeee!!! I am SO excited! Christmas is my favorite holiday! I love seeing all of the  lights and decorations everywhere! It just makes me so happy! So seeing the polishes in this month’s SquareHue box just added to my excitement! Each shade is spot on for the holiday season!

Don’t these shades make  you just want to burst out into Christmas songs?? Or is it just me??? lol

Okay, so let’s discuss these shades! My favorite shade in the box is “Rudolph.” Bet ya can’t guess which shade that is!?! Well of course it’s that beautiful red shimmer! DUH! LOL! I CANNOT wait to use this polish for Christmas day! The gold shimmer in it is everything! Also, this polish is opaque in two coats. My second favorite shade is “Jingle Bells.” I love how glossy and metallic this shade is! This shade is also opaque in 2 coats. The final shade is “Frosty.” It is a sheer pearl shimmer. It is pretty, but I will use it to add a little “umph” to another polish since I do not wear sheer polishes alone. It also takes about 3 coats to really be able to see it. I actually wish they would have given us an emerald green shade for the third polish, if I’m being honest. This box really would’ve popped if it did!

SquareHue is a nail polish subscription where you can receive either 3 full size polishes a month for $21 or 2 polishes for $16 a month, depending on your preference. Every month, I am pleasantly surprised with the color variety that is always spot on with the theme of the year/month. With every subscription, a portion of the proceeds are contributed to prevention awareness of human trafficking.

Special SquareHue Purchase :)

My prayers have been answered! Ever since I subscribed to SquareHue in June, I have wanted to go back and purchase previous boxes. Recently, SquareHue opened an online shop that allows just that! WOOT WOOT! Unfortunately, you cannot buy the polishes individually. When they allow that, I will lose my mind! LOL! Anyway, SquareHue offered 40% off sitewide during Black Friday, so I had to indulge! It took me two days to decide on what ONE box I would gift to myself (I had to limit myself because of everything else I had purchased).  I decided on the 1910 Collection because I LOVED the green polish in the collection and I did not have a green like it in my stash of polishes. The three colors in this box are Tunic 1910 (a pale coral), Kewpies 1912 (a light pink), and War Crinoline 1915 (a forest green). Each polish is a high gloss creme with no shimmer. Check out the beautiful polishes below and the swatches!

Nails of the Week | Keiko by Julep

This past week I went with Julep Bombshell in Keiko. It is described as a “charred olive shimmer.”  Honestly, I never saw any green in this polish. It really just looked like a very dark gray. Nonetheless, I still loved the color! I love dark polishes this time of the year. However, I would have loved to have seen some green. It would have been a pleasant surprise. Normally I get really good wear out of my Julep polishes, but for some reason, this polish kind of chipped around the tips of my nails after 2 days of wear. That kind of bummed me out…but it won’t keep me from wearing Julep brand polishes in the future. If you would like to purchase this polish, click here. It sells for $14.

Can you see the olive color in the picture?

Julep Bombshell in Margot Review

I feel like I have been doing a lot of lipstick and beauty product reviews lately and have been neglecting my beloved nail polishes (outside of my nails of the week posts)…which is a little odd since nail polish is a focus of my blog. No worries, I will find a healthy balance to ensure that I am providing my honest reviews of all things lippies, nails, and beauty in the future.

With that being said, I am going to share with you all my thoughts on the nail polish I chose to get me in the Thanksgiving spirit a couple of weeks ago! I decided to go with Julep Bombshell in Margot. I received it in my Julep subscription box either in October or November. However, it sells for $14.00. Click here to be taken to the product page. The polish is a very beautiful shimmery gold. On the website it is described as an old Hollywood gold shimmer. Something about the gold made me think fall and turkeys! Lol! Anyway, the polish is of great quality. It’s a “5-free, vegan-friendly formula that also includes strengthening Hexanal and antioxidant green coffee extract.” I wore it for 5 days and there was no chipping or fading of the polish. I was a little concerned that removal would be difficult because sometimes nail polishes with this kind of shimmer may really be glitter, which can make it hard to remove it. However, it was like removing a regular nail polish. I didn’t have to do any extra scrubbing or anything. I used a non-acetone remover on cotton balls and the polish came right off. Next time I’m in a golden mood, I will definitely pull this color out! Check out a picture of my nails below!
