So Choix | November 2016

I’m really thinking this subscription box may be my new favorite! I just love getting 5 designer samples (that I choose) for only $15 a month! I love how everything is packaged. It’s the perfect subscription box for those who love trying out new products but don’t feel like going to stores, like Sephora, to try out. You can try them out at your leisure throughout the month…extremely convenient and I appreciate convenience.

As you all know, I have been on a mission to find the perfect illuminator, so I added 3 to my box this month, plus a mascara and a lipstick. Let’s see what I received and what I thought about everything.

Laura Mercier Mineral Illuminating Powder in LM Candlelight, $35.00

I wasn’t able to really try this product out the way I wanted to because the jar they put this is was a little on the small side. The jar was big enough to fit a shadow brush in, but not a blending brush. From the little bit I was able to get on my brush, I swiped on my hand and noticed a nice little glowy shimmer. I’m not sure if I would buy this because I’m more a fan of liquid illuminators over powder illuminators. I actually like to limit the amount of powders I put on my skin since my skin is more on the dry side.

Burberry Cat Lashes Mascara in 01 Jet Black, $29.00

It’s really hard to review this product. I was expecting to receive a sample brush like the one that comes with the actual mascara. Instead, I received a regular mascara brush. So, I am unable to say whether or not this really gives the cat eye effect. If this had the actual brush, lashes are supposed to be extended and fanned out.

Burberry Lip Velvet Lipstcik in Velvet Oxblood, $34.00

I thought this shade would be darker, but either way, I really like the color. It’s a deep berry and perfect for fall. The formula is also very smooth and moisturizing. I don’t think it’s worth the $34 price tag, but I guess I’d be paying for the name and the packaging if I actually chose to purchase this in the full size.

Glamglow Glowstarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer in Nude Glow, $49.00

I considered buying this a few weeks ago when Sephora had their VIB sale. I decided against it because the sales associate recommended another product. I saw that I could get a sample of this from So Choix, so I decided to get it. I really love the glow I get from this. It’s a very healthy, dewy glow. This illuminator is also a moisturizer, so you do not have to moisturize your skin prior to application. My skin feels very hydrated once applied. The nude glow is a universal shade and it works on all skin tones and skin types.

Givenchy Mister Radiant Healthy Glow, $41.00

The name of this product is spot on! You truly get a healthy glow with it! It is a transparent gel that contains a high water content and soft beads of glowing color that sink into your skin to achieve a natural, sunlit effect. After application, my skin feels very smooth and soft. Also, this product has a light floral scent.

Have  you tried any of these products? If so, what were your thoughts?

What’s in My Birchbox? | January 2016

I was overall very pleased with my Birchbox this month! I liked 3 out of the 5 products in the box, which is pretty much a win. I love Birchbox because I am always being introduced to brands I have never heard of and for only $10 a month! Although I rarely like every product, I usually like the majority of the products which makes it worth it to me. This month’s samples are worth approximately $27. $10 for $27 worth of samples is a pretty good deal in my opinion! Click here to use my referral link to subscribe to your own box!

I really loved the actual box this month. I love how the top of the box allows you to fill in the blank for what type of year 2016 will be for you. I am choosing happiness. “2016: The Year of Happiness.” I also loved that this box included a collection of inspirational stickers. Some of the words on the stickers were strength, fearlessness, risks, joy, gratitude, etc. Pretty awesome words to use as your theme for this year and every year in the future. Anyway, let’s see what I received in my box this month!

Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle | Full size, $21.95

I am very particular about the products I use on my hair. I have a set few products that work on my hair and I use them religiously. So, with that, I did not try this detangler out. I was afraid it may end up being too greasy or possibly dry my hair out. I would hate to wash my hair, use this product, not like it, and then have to redo the entire process…so, I just decided against trying it. However, based off of the reviews on Birchbox’s website, people do seem to really love this product and it may be worth trying and maybe one day I will get the nerve up to try it.

Eyeko Fat Liquid Liner | Full size, $16
I love trying new eyeliners, so I was excited to see this full size eyeline in my box this month! I really loved this product! It has a fat felt tip, but still gives a very precise line and makes creating a winged tip super easy. The marker applicator makes application super easy because it fits in your hand better. I think eyeliners that have the felt tips, but thinner applicators are more difficult to apply and my line is never as precise as it is with the Eyeko liner. The color is a true black and it dries with a wet look.

Harvey Prince Hello Body Creme | Full size, $24

I am always happy to try new skin moisturizers due to my skin being extremely dry, so I was excited to receive a new product from a brand that I had never heard of. The sample size for this box was 15 ml .50 fl oz. The bottle is a good size for a sample, but it seemed to barely have any product in it. I had to shake it and shake it to get something to come out. What I did get to come out, I was very satisfied with! The smell is strong when you initially put it on, but not overbearing and the smell fades away pretty quickly. Although the scent is strong, it is actually pretty pleasant. It is citrusy mixed with floral notes. I am not sure if I will purchase this product since it is $24 which is a little pricey for a 12 oz body creme. I can stick with my cocoa butter and be fully satisfied. We will see…maybe one day I will be in a splurging mood and decide to purchase it. Time will tell…

Peripera Peri’s Tint Water in Strawberry Juice | Full size, $12
This product caught me by surprise when I opened it. I was so confused! I clearly didn’t read the label where it says its a tint water. I was thinking it would be a glossier formula. It is literally a tinted water. lol! I did not like this at all. It was just weird and unexpected. I don’t really know why anybody would want to put a tinted water on their lips. It wasn’t moisturizing either…but that was to be expected. But, if you want a nice tint, this product does provide that. You can probably apply a clear gloss over it to give it some moisture.

Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel | Full size, $48

I do not use a lot of products on my face due to my skin being so sensitive. I mainly stick to water to cleanse and Aquaphor to moisturize. However, I do love a good skin peel/exfoliator and when I find one that works, I tend to stick to it. Last month, Birchbox introduced me to Vasanti (click here to read about it) and I fell in LOVE! Anyway, I only tried this product out because the packaging said that it was safe for all skin types. The instructions stated to apply a thin layer of the product onto damp skin and massage in circular motions for 15-20 seconds to allow the product to bind with your dead skin cells and form a solid. I don’t know if I did not apply enough of the product, but the solids never formed. However, I do feel like my skin was extremely soft after using this product. I will probably rotate between this and my Vasanti skin exfoliator in the future.

Have you tried any of these products? Let me know in the comments!

Nail Polish, Setting Powder, Eyeliner, Lip Balm Anyone?

I have a problem. I am addicted to Sephora. I placed two separate orders on their website two days in a row. Smh! But, I stocked up on some pretty awesome products! See what they are below! 🙂

*Click on each photo to go to the product page*
Smith’s Rosebud Salve, $6

This lip balm is AMAZE BALLSSSS!!!! It is super moisturizing. It is a long lasting moisturizer and can be used to moisturize your entire body. I just prefer using it on my lips. I’ll definitely be adding this to my collection of lip moisturizers for the winter!

Make Up Forever HD Microfinish Powder, $30 (0.3 oz), $19 (0.14 oz); Sephora Setting Powder Brush, $11
I used my rewards to get the Make Up Forever setting powder. I am not sure I am a fan of it. I have never used a setting powder before, but it made my skin really dry and left a ghostly glow to my skin. No matter how little I used, I still had an ashy look to my skin, which was only noticeable when I took a picture with the flash on. But God forbid I wear this in public and someone takes a picture of me with the flash on. How horrible would that be!?! LOL! I may give this setting powder another try…but it will be a while.

The setting powder brush is really awesome. The bristles are very soft and applied the powder very well. The shape and size of the brush allow you to apply bronzers and blushes for a natural looking result. I definitely recommend this brush if you wear bronzers and blushes often…even if you don’t, it’s a good brush to have in your collection.

Marc Jacobs Marc’er Precision Pen Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner  in Blacquer, $30

OMG! Am I glad I chose this as my free gift with my purchase or what!?! This eyeliner is perfect! It is a super glossy back and application is flawless. The fine pen tip allowed for the perfect line and made winging the eyeliner super easy. I have been a die hard fan for MAC ProLongwear Eyeliner…but for just a few dollars more, I may have to upgrade my life to this eyeliner! It was just that amazing!

Nails, Inc. Nail Polish in London Lane, Sold out
Ever since I started using the Nails, Inc. 45 Second Top Coat, I have been in love with Nails, Inc. polishes. Unfortunately this polish is sold out now and I am unsure whether or not it will be restocked…but, I love the blue flakes suspended in a clear polish. I applied it on an accent nail (pictured) on top of a gray nail polish and I received so many compliments (don’t mind the bottle of SquareHue polish, it’s just the only picture I had showing the Nails, Inc. polish. lol!) Hopefully it will be restocked and if not, I will work on finding a dupe of this polish that will give you a similar effect.

Formula X Nail Polish in Sage Green, Sold out

I am a fan of Sephora’s Formula X collection for the variety of colors. I am not a fan of the quality. The polish chips after two days or so…which is a bummer. So, I only buy this brand when it is on sale. Lol! Okay, on to the polish at hand. Unfortunately, I haven’t had a chance to paint my nails with this particular polish. I’m hoping I can get around to painting my nails tonight if I have some free time (be on the lookout on my Instagram for a picture). Anywho, I’m a little on the fence about this color. I was thinking that it would be a little darker based on the photos on the website, but looking at the bottle it seems pretty light. Maybe it will apply darker when I paint my nails. Let’s keep our fingers crossed about that! Unfortunately, this color is sold out, but if you click on the picture, you can see all of the other amazing colors Sephora has to offer!

Update: I got around to painting my nails. The color came out the way I expected it to, which I was pleased with. But, like I stated, it chipped within two days…even though that could possibly be attributed to me washing my hair. Either way, I’ll be repainting my nails this weekend.

Have you tried any of these products or do you plan to? I’d love to know!

My Beauty Addiction Fall Lippie Review + Swatches!!

Earlier this year, I was introduced to the wonder that is My Beauty Addiction (MBA). They sell a variety of beauty products, such as lipsticks, lip glazes, lip scrubs, eyeshadows, lashes, make up brushes. You name it, they more than likely sell it! I am a HUGE fan of all of their lipsticks. The quality is amazing, the color selection is vast, and the prices are super affordable! Also, it’s a huge bonus that their products are handmade and they even offer samples of their lippies and eyeshadows. So, what’s not to love! They also sell other brands on their site, such as LA Girl Cosmetics. Get into my most recent lipstick purchase below!

*Click on the pictures to be taken to the product page.*

LA Girl Matte Velvet Lipstick in Relentless, $4.00
This is the second LA Girl lippie I have purchased from MBA. The color is really pretty. However, I think it takes quite a few layers to get the opacity that I prefer. Also, this product really doesn’t have much staying power. It lasts for a couple of hours before it starts to fade…that’s without eating or drinking. So, I would really only recommend wearing this if you are just running out to the grocery store or something quick.

MBA Luxury Matte Lipstick in Salsa, $9.50
OMG this color is EVERYTHING! Salsa is a warm red; the perfect red, fall lipstick. The color payoff is amazing! Although this is a matte formula, it is actually very moisturizing in comparison to other matte formulas. It glides on very smooth and isn’t patchy once applied to the lips. Definitely another go to red for me! I highly recommend this lipstick to anybody looking for the perfect go to red!

MBA Color Rich Lipstick in Violetta, $5.50
I am a huge fan of the color rich lipsticks and have been since I first started purchasing from MBA. This is the first time I purchased lipstick from MBA in the jar formula. Normally I purchase their lipstick in the tube. However, I wanted to try the jars because the color payoff is a little richer when I apply from the jar versus the tube. But, that is just my opinion. Anyway, Violetta is the perfect shade of purple for an evening out when you are not trying to be super bold with your lips. It is described as “a deep, red purple with a shimmer” on the website and that is the perfect description for the color.

MBA Sugar Babies Jojoba Lip Glaze in Brown Sugar, $5.50

This is my first time trying the lip glazes and I am trying to figure out why I have waited so long. I am usually not a huge fan of super glossy lipsticks, so maybe that’s why I never tried it. However, this formula is glossy, but it’s not extremely shiny. It’s moisturizing and it isn’t sticky. An added bonus, it tastes like sugar! YUM! The only issue you will run into with this lip glaze is trying not to lick it off your lips!

Which of these lippies will you be trying out?
